(2016) Marginal Arts Festival

MUSIC IN THE PARK: Saturday, Sept 3, 12 - 4:30 pm

CANADIAN IDLES: Free Concert in Memorial Park

Over four hours of sunshine and song from three spectacular BC bands, featuring roots, blues, jazz, and country.  These talented musicians are stars in their own right, and all of them have stories to tell! This will be an unforgettable afternoon.

Dirt Road Opera: Former Cruzeros lead vocalist and songwriter Barry Mathers, country singer Rachel Matkin, guitarist Gary Smyth and drummer Jay Swetlishoff have joined forces to create a new roots band that blends their individual vocals to produce incredible harmonies.

Blue City Trio: Tom Esson and Sergei Ryga, who first played together in Summerland 36 years ago, add the rhythm of hand percussionist Dan Marcelino to their set, which infuses jazz, Latin and pop sensibilities with a distinctive ‘80s flavour.

Smith Fraser Duo: Okanagan guitarists Andrew Smith and Neil Fraser mix up a tasty stew of folk, blues, roots and jazz. When not exploring fresh arrangements of the classics, they perform compelling original songs.

Thanks to our amazing sponsors, this concert is Free!

WHEN: Saturday, September 3, 12:00 - 4:30 pm

WHERE: Memorial Park, Wharton Street, downtown Summerland
